Your biggest pain point?

Hey, there! I’m curious what your biggest pain point is. While there is great diversity in types of sites, companies, and teams and it is not unheard of to run into unique situations, I have found in my experience that many of us run to similar issues.

What is top of mind for you and your team right now? What is a pain point you are aiming to resolve?

Hi there. I think one of our biggest, if not the biggest, pain points is search. We have essentially been held back by the older version of Solr, and would really like to be using something like Elasticsearch instead.

My teams biggest pain point has been platform reliability, especially as it relates to DevOps. We built a pipeline to push our code to the Pantheon platform, but over the past year we have been fighting with failed deployments for all kinds of reasons.

Easily, the biggest pain point is understanding the unique visitor and page view limits, and what traffic is counting toward those limits. We have access to nginx logs but Pantheon uses CDN logs to determine your traffic usage. You have to request CDN logs for specific dates to review if you think there’s an issue.

I’d very much like Pantheon to make the following two things a priority:

  • doing a better job at blocking obviously malicious traffic; if I can take one look at the log and spot the problem, there should be an easy way for Pantheon to fix it.
  • provide users direct access to CDN logs (instead of having to request them) so that we have a better look into the traffic that is costing money.

Sure, that would be fine. Please note that we have been providing this feedback for a few years now and nothing has come of it yet. I’m not sure if there is anything new that I can add that would be helpful.
